The journalism portfolio of Peter Radosh

Hi! I'm Peter. I'm a student journalist and the Associate Editor-in-Chief of The Prospector of Prospect High School in Mount Prospect, Illinois. I've been involved in Prospect's media program, KnightMedia, since my sophomore year, when I joined as a football color commentator. Now, I've expanded all forms of media my school has to offer, from podcast to print, and I'm happy to be known as "the guy in the newspaper" to any new teacher or student I meet.
When I began, as a 15-year-old kid in the press box, I would have never expected how much journalism would give me. It's given me a community, led me to meet people I would have never expected to meet and led me to places I never thought I'd go. Most of all, I've become an adult through it. Journalism has shown me an outlook on life that gives me a reason to get up and make a difference — however small or large — each day.

My Journalistic Why
In my eyes, journalism should educate, inform and entertain the public. Rather than telling people what to think, it should let them know what to think about. Good journalism is one of the purest forms of public service. From the smallest individual voices to leaders of thought and progress, journalism should provide both a voice for everyone and a realistic picture of the state of a community. Everything I do within the multimedia field is with service in mind, from my efforts to cover the Asian American community at my high school to my live broadcasts and photojournalism coverage of local sports.
